Chicken Teriyaki

For a sweet and tangy glaze, try Chicken Teriyaki, a yummy Japanese dish. Slice the Chicken Teriyaki thinly in order to place over steamed white rice garnished with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds which are supposed to increase its taste and texture. For a balanced diet, it should be served with some boiled vegetables or fresh salad. Chicken teriyaki is an adaptable and delightful meal that blends soft chicken with clinging sticky sweetness mixed with savoury saltiness which makes it perfect for dinner satisfying the spirit of Japan.

Ingredients:

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup mirin (Japanese sweet rice wine)

1/4 cup sake

2 tbsp sugar

1 tsp grated ginger

1 clove garlic, minced

1 tbsp vegetable oil

Sesame seeds, for garnish

Green onions, chopped for garnish

Instructions:

Take soy sauce, Mirin, Sake, sugar, ginger and garlic in a small bowl. Set aside.

Chop chicken breasts into smaller pieces.

In a large frying pan pour in vegetable oil and bring to heat on medium-high temperature.

Place chicken into skillet and cook until all sides turn brown over about 5 minutes.

Stir the mixture of soy sauce well with the chicken.

Then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10-15 minutes until chicken is fully done while sauce becomes thick.
